In
April 2001, MaPS, Inc. provided Wheatland and Golden
Valley Counties with a proposal to complete the E-911
project started by Miller Mgmt./Benchmark GIS of
Missoula, MT. MaPS, Inc. subcontracted the initial GPS
field work - mapping of the road network and structure
locations - to Independent Inspection Co. of Havre, MT.
MaPS, Inc. followed up that preliminary mapping effort
with a more in-depth field review, mapping more remote
structures and private lanes/subdivisions. MaPS, Inc.
assigned accurate, distance-based rural addresses,
cleaned-up the addressing in the Wheatland County’s 2
incorporated communities and 2 unincorporated
communities and Golden Valley County’s 2 incorporated
communities and conducted the Postal Coordination and
Address Notification tasks of the project. MaPS, Inc.
updated the telephone records with the new physical
addresses and completed the MSAG and ESZ databases. The
Counties went “live” with Century Tel providing their
E-911 database in early December 2006, relying on
ContactOne’s dispatch display software.
MaPS, Inc. was
providing ongoing mapping maintenance services and
assisted in the mapping of over 125 large wind-turbines
for several alternative energy sites in Wheatland
County. The County has since taken over the assignment
of new physical addresses and acquired an ArcPad license
and a Trimble Pro XR GPS unit for ongoing mapping
maintenance of new construction. MaPS, Inc. set-up the
ArcPAD software for field data collection and trained
the County’s 9-1-1 Coordinator on addressing, mapping,
GIS integration/updating and ongoing E-911 System
maintenance. MaPS, Inc. has developed large-scale wall
maps and detailed emergency services atlases for the
Counties and will offer ongoing consulting/tech support
and specialty map products as requested/needed.
