In April 2001, MaPS, Inc. was approached by Toole Co. and asked
to complete the E-911 project started by Miller
Mgmt./Benchmark GIS of Missoula, MT. MaPS, Inc.
subcontracted the initial GPS field mapping of the road
network and structure locations. MaPS, Inc. followed up
that preliminary mapping effort with a more in-depth field
review, mapping more remote structures and private
lanes/subdivisions to enable assignment of more accurate,
distance-based rural addresses. MaPS, Inc. also cleaned up
the addressing in the County’s 3 incorporated communities
and 6 unincorporated communities and completed the Postal
Coordination and Address Notification tasks of the project,
which enabled the County to go “live” with E-911 on May 20,
2008. MaPS, Inc. is handling the assignment of new physical
addresses via our toll-free addressing hotline, including
mapping maintenance of new construction on a semi-annual
basis. MaPS, Inc. developed large-scale wall maps and
detailed emergency services atlases for the County and is
providing ongoing consulting/tech support and specialty map
products as requested/needed. The County has several
large-scale wind farms currently in development (ultimately
1,000 wind turbines over parts of Toole, Glacier and Pondera
Co.’s) and MaPs, Inc. has been mapping and integrating all
of the road network and turbine sites into the digital
basemaps.
